I recently made contact with an ex LFB man name of Alan Riley. I knew Alan well when he served in the LFB.  Alan  came from a Fire Brigade family.  His father was a Stn O at Southwark Training back in the sixties, and his brothers served in fire brigades in the Midlands.. Alan served in the C and G divisions and was a Sub O at Edmonton.  He left the LFB shortly after the FB Strike in 1977 and went to the North Sea Oil Rigs , from there he went as a Fire Chief to the Saudi Oilfields, and from there he went to USA where he owned a Pub for a time near the Canadian Border.  He then applied for and was accepted as a Chief Fire Officer in an area of Colorado. USA.  Sad to say  Alan died of Cancer in March 2009.  He was 60 . RIP.
