Looks like the new round of training posts are being offered, got a slight difference this time.
You come into training as a CM (if you are FF or CM on station), then you will be paid a 'Bonus'. Not sure what uniform they'll be wearing but there are a couple of issues.
Rumour control says it may happen to the trainers that haven't completed their book yet and the big thing is the 'bonus' wont be pensionable.

Don't you just love the brigade. Just another way of stopping people either wanting to go into training or enhance their pension before retirement. I'm sure they think we all do this job just for the love of it and would do it for free! I know we love the job but a man's got to eat, and live, and enjoy life a bit, etc etc.

I have been told there has been a total of 5 people apply to become trainers, at first I thought this was for the FRU slots but no! this is for the whole of the training from FRU to driver and everything in between.
Think I have to agree smudger and say the LFB has got it wrong again!!!!!

I think (and have always thought) that the main reason people don't do courses is because they then can't get leave, do more out duties or worse, get stuck on the same machine for years!
If the brigade had the balls and had the right incentives for doing the courses (enhanced pay) then we'd all do the courses and there wouldn't always be a skills deficiancy.
I know trainies have to do their driving course as part of their book but if everyone at an FRU station did a course then they could rotate so that you didn't get stuck on it all the time. trouble is the brigade don't ever seem to do enough courses! I'm still waiting for line 2, we have two people on our watch that are line 2 and we're looking at the end of this year before getting enough to use it!
Moan moan groan blah blah, you've heard it all before,

The trouble is there are two main constraints that stop any of what you say smugger from ever happening. Firstly the “Budget” and especially that for training is very limited. Courses are expensive to run both in monetary terms but the cost of stand bys needed at the station to cover that person on training.
Secondly and I think this is the biggest problem is the work force. How many times have you heard people moaning about getting qualified, I agree you either do the course or get moved to another station. But all too often people make excuses about various reasons the biggest reason being “personal” They know that no one will challenge them on it so they get away with murder.
If you are at an FRU station and you do not want to do the course then bye bye. I think it’s only right and fair that everyone on the watch becomes qualified to ride all the machines at the station to allow personnel to move around and not get stuck on the same machine for ages, but that is just my view what do I know!

Latest new for the promotion round is, the brigade has been told or decided that you can't have two people doing the same job getting different monies, it means they have dropped the idea of promoting to CM and giving extra pay.
This may have something to do with the 5 people that applied to come into training (rumour)
I wait with held breath for the onslaught of people applying

That's the reason why Station Officers are taking a pay cut down to that of a Watch Manager B, two people doing the same job on different pay rates. :x
