Yes they are but the dexterity of the mechanics gloves are a hell of a lot better so you can handle equipment better.

The gloves are s**t to say the least, they are two big. The ones we want are very simular to the mechanic ones shown earlier, they are designed for RTA's and are blood, oil and liquid proof. They protect you against sharpe objects, glass and have the added advantage of being light enough you can feel and do stuff without having to take them off

thats great for fire fighting duties what about the other 100's of non fire duties we do.
For the people in charge ' we need NON FIRE kick NOW' is that straight enough and to the point

If it the same Gold kit thats currently out then its the one I wore for 2 years. Admitedly I not worn the current kit for as long to make a an informed judgement but the gold is good.
As for the shirts then Im surprised there grey but at least we getting shirt. Prefered wearing a shirt over my t-shirt and take it off before putting kit on then i do just having a t shirt. Looks smarter

With the promise of new P.P.E coming in for 2009, we really shouldn't hold our breath on this. This is the largest brigade in the country, the third largest brigade in the world. The logistics for this operation are huge, and will take time to impliment.But the big thing will be the cost of it all.
Now if i know London as i think i do,we will follow our usual path when buying new equipment. If it's twice as expensive and half as good, we will have it.!!!!!!

£27 million for the new fire kit. which apparently works out at £5000 per firefighter. don't know if its half as good. we will have to wait and see.
