I'm due to start at STC in afew weeks and should, FINALLY, get on station in London by end of Feb (Only going to be the 18 months between shouts!)
I been trying to find out who is responsible for assigning stations and how they come to the decision. I have heard various answers to how it works but no one has a definate, up to date answer nor does anyone, including SM's and above that I asked, know who assigns them be it trainers, civilian staff or computerised etc
Anyone have any ideas? I not to bothered where I go, it been that long I'd go Biggin Hill to get back operational, but it be good to know how its decided

I think the guys name is Mike Flanagen, he is in charge of the dept formally called 'Mondernisation & Implementation Team.
Although all that could be wrong

Looks like he will also be on my list of people getting emails in the next few weeks then.
Thanks

The bloke you're referring to is Dave Flanagan. He's a senior officer so if you're gonna email him I'd observe protocol if I were you and do so through your line manager, who in your case should be your trainer I guess.

Technical I'm still Fire and Rescue staff so thats why Im looking now. Once I back in uniform I won't be able to do it as, like you say, I'll have to go through line managers etc. At the moment its more out of intrest than anything. If I end up on other side of London then its not end of the world.
As it happens I spoke to someone at the Assesment Centre the other day, was there on a unrelated issue, who knew him and he reckoned it be ok to send him an email asking how to works. I just sent a general one asking for advice on how its decided as opposed to one trying to force the issue of where I wanted to go. Didnt realsie he uniformed tho, thought he also on fire and rescue side
If I end up in Hillingdon or Wennington I'll guess he decided to teach me a lesson!
