PAY SETTLEMENT 2008
I have today (10 June) attended a meeting of the National Joint Council (NJC), where one of the items under discussion was the pay award due to take effect from July.
One of the key demands of the union has been that the settlement should be in line with any increase commensurate with the formula which has linked firefighters to the associate, technical and professional (ATP) group of workers in previous years. This is against the background of the employers' attempts to move away from a pay formula, and, of course, the government's public sector pay policy, which seeks to cap inrease at 2%.
However, I am able to report that the NJC agreed a pay increase of 2.45%, which is precisely the award that the ATP formula would have delivered.

Except of course if you are a Watch Manager on protected Station officers pay a 1.5% rise = a cut of £330 per year, Thanks union.

Same way I don't get CPD money cos I'm under the eight year mark. guess I've not developed myself enough for the brigade :?

What really hurts about this is the fact that OUR Union negotiated this pay cut for some of its highly skilled, motivated members, that’s right a union which negotiates a pay cut, no wonder the authority are laughing at us

I never had a problem with the 'Long service' payment, I have a problem with the 'Continual Personal Development’ and the bullshit way it has been written and being implemented.
