Not wanting to be contentious. However, I hope we get some lively debate.
At station level watch officers have a fair amount of responsibilty with regards to personnel, operations, and are on shift. So why do trainers who are not operational, have no watch responsibility and work days receive the same pay? In the same way how does a Crew manager at a one appliance station receive the same pay as Crew managers who are at Croydon, Edmonton and Wembley? Crew managers at Croydon, Edmonton and Wembley can have the same personnel responsibilty as that of a Station manager at a one appliance station ( and be more qualified). Should personnel be paid for their responsibilty and qualifications? I belive yes. So who's stopping it, the unon, management or ourselves ?

Hey Red,
I agree that specialism's and watch type and strength should go towards pay increase, like having separate grades within a role/rank.
Should i get the same as a one appliance watch manager? do I have the same responsibility? I believe I have a different set of responsibilities and some times have more than 12 people under my personal care.
I believe watch managers of different size watches, appliance types and specialisms should have an enhanced rate to cover their increase in responsibility.
The thing is they are never gonna pay for anything more when they don't have to and at the moment they don't
I have also heard a rumour that they want to get rid of the two WM ranks and have a single WM but still cover everything they cover at the moment, that is really gonna stick if they get that through
