LAS HART Team

Anybody on here got any opinions on the London Ambulance HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) or any first hand experience in working with them? Just interested in hearing some opinions from firefighters as what I've heard so far hasn't been great, and at incidents i've seen them at they havent actually seemed to be doing anything...

Cheers,
Tom

Im not a firefighter, but I saw them when they attended the Carbon Monoxide Incident at Bexleyheath, and they were just sat in their vehicle drinking tea!

Maybe I got there too late, but they didn't seem to be doing much!

What’s a 'Hart' team?

The drunk ferrying service (LAS) don’t like us anyway, they seem immensely jealous of our job as they spend most of theirs dropping folks off who can't be bothered calling for a cab.
If our jobs so great, apply. Simple.

How quickly they forget that in 1989 I and many others spent a lot of off duty time collecting monies for their strike fund, and all the thanks we got in return when we went on strike in 2003 . . . all that thanks? Oh yes, a grand total of fook all.

Still, next time they'll know how much support they will receive from me.

Speak for yourself, we have a good working relationship with our local LAS Paramedics and with comments like that, it's no wonder that you've come up against barriers.

Wot? Don't you like the techs?
Wurkit

Hmmmm....Techs, a bit inconsistant.

Good for you Worker.

I'd recommend a visit to their forum 'The Big White taxi' though and see how far the love goes.

We've met a few of their teams and they seem very keen and professional, not sure what they want to be though. They are doing EDBA and USAR and wont be long before they go for Line training as well.

Not sure how well the working relationship goes with HEMS, they don't really like each other (from what I've heard). May be a bit of treading on toes with what I could gather.

I wouldn't worry too much about how they [The LAS] acted when we were on strike, we have spoken to a few LAS teams and have been trying to smooth over bad feelings between us and them. We should all be able to be professional when on a job, remember we are there for the casualty!

This is the Ambulance version of this forum:

Have a look at the fire brigade topics, or 'trumpton' as they seem to call us.

HEMS? Getting the hump and not playing nicely with the others? Well I never...
Wurkit

I wouldn't take the opinions of a few narrow minded individuals as a gauge of the attitude of the entire workforce.
