Have found some disturbing news today, it seams your manager if he/she wants, can keep you in whatever post you're in and you can't get out unless they let you go. This is even if you are offered promotion or posting.
Anyone else had this and how what the situation resolved? cos its causing so much grief I'm seriously thinking about handing in my rank and going back out as a firefighter because it seams its the only way they can't stop me from leaving the department.
Oh yea and got a GM's interview tomorrow, not sure what's it gonna solve as he doesn't really give a shit about the team members anyway

Have heard of this before, but generally only relating to station bods who wanted to transfer from one station to another, but because of their qualifications they are refused the transfer. Not sure how it would work on promotion as your line manager has no say in it and I am sure the Union would have something to say about you being penalized in such a fashion.
