jumpersover the last few years the LFB have spent a fortune training fru crews in line rescue, since then there have been a number of incidents where they have got to work stopping people from jumping to their deaths.
i think we should have taken up the Australian approach to dealing with jumpers and save a small fortune.

You're right Smoke, the brigade have spent a lot of time training FRU crews in line rescue to provide safe systems for our own crews and save a life , but it still seems some people are reluctant to call on the FRUs espcially for crew safety when working on roofs. How appropriate the saying "Pride comes before a fall"!

unfortunately red, there is a lack of knowledge out there. not only in what FRU crews can provide, but also WMs knowing their obligations under the working at height regs. its the usual story, until somebody is seriously injured or killed, working at height, nothing much will be done. from where i work i have suggested putting together a DVD, not only for line, but everything an FRU has to offer. you can't be sure that everyone will watch it, but if only 50% of WMs did it would be a start. but as usaul we put forward good ideas, they go around differant depts, get the living crap kick out of them and come out a shadow of their former selve's.
