HQ new and old

Heard an interesting line today that Albert Embankment HQ sale has fallen through, anyone know? Also Union street has been sold by the owners so Brigade is unsure what happens at the end of lease in 7yrs? :o

Yes due to the building being listed I hear the sale has fallen through and the building will now remain empty, in fact it is rumoured that they may even move back into HQ at the end of the Union St lease!

I heard the rumour too.  It has been said that the land that the old HQ was on was gifted to the LFB so was unable to be sold?

Sounds like a sketch from the Muppet show only not as funny, wonder if they'll take the medals off the people that have f**ked this move up.

They should at least loose their pay rise

i heard that the land was donated by Daultons pottery which had a factory on the site that burnt down. part of the deal was that it always had to have a fire station there. the brigade thought it could get away with keeping the fire station on the ground & 1st floor, and sell the rest. it would seem that somebody forgot to read the small print, which actually said the whole building had to be used by the brigade. by all accounts the RRT team has already moved into the 2nd Floor, which had to be re decorated.

You couldn't make it up!

Now if the brigade has spent £26million on the Firehouse fiasco and they might be moving back to the old HQ. That means they spent another £26 million on refurbing Union street HQ thats £52million without refurbing the old HQ. Anyone getting sacked? Not likely ,more like they will get a knighthood to keep them quite. Bitter and twisted? You bet when I have to copy a phone bill to get out of pocket expenses of £4.73 on a course!

Oh come on! Who is surprised if this story is true? The brigade could not organize a piss up in a brewery!

The fire house is a prime example of their total lack of forward planning and getting value for money from anything.

The only thing this current management group know is, get a consultant to come in and look at the problem, then do something completely different and at huge cost.
