Firefighter hurt in callout crash

A firefighter has been injured after a fire service vehicle crashed in central London.

The search and rescue vehicle had been responding to a callout when it overturned on the Waterloo roundabout.

The driver of the vehicle, the only person on board, was treated for minor injuries, and no other vehicle was involved.

The vehicle had been on its way to the Blackwall Tunnel to attend a road crash when the accident happened at 0915 GMT.

The vehicle, based in Battersea, south-west London, is used to transfer specialist equipment to the scene of road traffic accidents.

I believe he went to hospital with an injured wrist but it wasn't serious, not sure if this changed after he got there.

Best wishes mate get well soon, got to be fit for the 'court marshal'

Whoops! Another MAN bites the dust!

Why was a USAR unit responding to an RTA?
Cyclops246

The driver is fit and well and the paperwork begins.
The USAR attendance was made because the RTA occurred inside the Rotherhithe Tunnel and there's a USAR PDA to incidents in tunnels.

Thanks for the heads up cyclops. Glad no one was really hurt in this, could have been a lot worse.
