Battersea - flat fireSix fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a blaze at a block of flats on Battersea High Street yesterday morning.
A five roomed flat on the building’s eighth floor was gutted by fire. Fifteen people were evacuated from the block and an older woman was treated for smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 0807 and the fire was under control by1027. Fire crews from Battersea, Wandsworth, Clapham, Fulham and Southwark fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
