Guess what I saw posing around the USAR offices the other day? the new kit for the USAR teams, they are a orange/red two piece outfit very similar to mersyside's Major rescue Unit uniforms.
They do look cool, but I have been told I can't have one :( because you have to be at a FRU station, so I know the first thing I'm ordering when I go back to station :D
Oh isn't envy just terrible

Following the posting above I thought I'd attach a couple of photographs of the new USAR PPE. A member of SOG arrived today to size level III USAR responders for the kit. I've got to say that it's excellent. A massive improvement on working in a USAR environment in structural firefighting gear.

Hey Dave,
Forgot to post and probably should start a new one. We are loosing our USAR qualification, a few guys on the team have had letters over the weekend saying if you aren't on a USAR station (ie old 10 FRU ones) then on the 1st Feb the USAR qualification is coming off.
Seams a big thanks for nothing from the brigade, I am just waiting to get my letter in the next couple of days. Whats next? loosing our FRU qualification cos the computer says we aren't on a FRU station.
:x

I heard yesterday that the USAR qualification was being removed from anyone not based on an FRU station. That's a bum deal Rob, I agree. I've also heard that FRU qualified individuals not based at FRU stations will be losing their qualification too. I understand that a person who worked closely with you until he was promoted to WM-B and relocated to a station in the south recently has lost all his technical rescue qualifications.
When you bug out of FRU Training my advice is look for a posting at one of the 10 'original' stations and retain your tech rescue skills and get your USAR qualification swithced back on.

Het Dave,
I think I was chatting to him just before I left work tonight (ML) I think our SM is gonna fight the move to remove the qualification of us on the team. The next stoopid move would be them taking our FRU qually's off us cos we aren't at an FRU station.
I am looking for one of the 'old' FRU stations to come out to do my CM ops book, I'm lucky to have Bexley, Lewisham and East Ham near me but that doesn't mean there will be any places there when I come to leave the team.
i wonder if Battersea will have any places

Just to add to it all, I have one of my firefighters losing their USART qualifications because they are not at a USART although an FRU station. But Wimbledon is not one of the orginal 10
