Would just like to say to the managers that you tell us to be reasonable and understand this and that. You tell us to be professional and have pride in the job, which ordinarily we all on the stations do, so it comes as no surprise that the new appliances come with no badges and not even the name of the Brigade, thanks, something to be really proud in

I'm not sure but it maybe something to do with AssetCo owning the vehicles and not the LFB.

It makes the Appliance easier to sell apparently, less work involved in selling to a third world country (did I really say that?).
As for the actual Brigade, did you know that the civvies (oops sorry, non-operational personnel) actually call us firefighters service delivery now, and NOT firefighters?
I have a friend who works for the brigade in their ***** department and so they are all on the same wave length they call firefighters service delivery and fire stations service depots.
And you think not having the name of you're own brigade on the side of trucks demeans your job title.
Not that i'm bitter and twisted, I love the job, always have, the Brigade has tried to chip away at my enthusiasm for years, but they won't beat me!
Ha !!!

The newest appliances are being delivered without logos as the LFB were designing a new corporate "livery" for them. They will soon be getting the new [L][F][B] box logo, as well as the new simplified crest and the website address, as applied to the new OSUs and FIUs.

We are service delivery, working from service delivery depots whilst they work for London’s Fire and Rescue Service makes them feel big and important.
An example would be to look at the awards given to personnel after the July Bombings; the number of awards given to non operational personnel how does that work? Of course there is the case from up north of the brigade accountant been awarded the Queens Fire Service Medal for producing a balanced budget for a number of years.
I am sure there are a lot of jealous people working in non operational post, can you imagine them having a conversation going along these sort of line. “I work for the London Fire Brigade”, the other person going “wow I bet that’s exciting going out on a fire engine and putting fires out”, they reply with “well actually I work in the offices I don’t work at a fire station”, the other person going “oh! Just a normal office job then”. That must really make them dislike uniformed staff

Firstly, hi all! :D
They way the Brigade is going now is just stupid, in my opinion. All these civvies deciding our future, they haven't got a clue! making Station Officers and Leading hands "Managers" and getting rid of Sub.O's all together! what's all that about! And as it's been said, how are we supposed to be proud of the job we do if they aren't even putting out cap badge on the side of the machines. :x
Sorry for the unhappy first post but I've been gagging to say all this for ages! haha!

Hi mate,
First let me welcome you to our fledgling site, we are growing slowly but pass it round to your guys and maybe we'll get more on here.
I think we have to stand up for ourselves and our brigade and say 'this is my job and I'm proud to be LFB'. everyone that knows me knows who I work for and apart from the politics which can be a nightmare (I work at STC) I love my job.
It is a shame that we are run by, what you call 'civies' and they don't recognize the time, effort and sacrifice we put into our jobs. This is made even worse by the tragedy that has befallen our comrades in Warwickshire, the pen pushers will no doubt be asking themselves 'how much is this gonna cost us!!'
Our PR people need to be getting off their asse's and having all the good stuff we do in the papers and on the news.
Anyway once again welcome
Rob

Firstly Welcome!
There are many friends here who feel the same.
This is our job; no one other than us knows what its like at a station. The tragic events of the other week show that this job can be dangerous and even when faced with what may seem monumental odds stacked against us we will at all costs do our job to the best of our ability.
It is up to us to take charge, show that we are proud of this job its traditions and its rich history.
It’s all too easy to sit there and just take even more c”*p from non uniformed section. Now I am not blaming everything that is currently wrong with this job at them, we need to be held responsible for some of this. The question is how do we get back some of that pride and esteem back into our job that we love and I for one am proud of.
This web site allows us to blow a bit of steam off, chat with other people in a similar position to us, so we have a core of people that can start to make a difference.
We need as a work force to start to stand up state that we are proud and gently resist things that are not in the best interest for us.
At my station (Wimbledon) we had some T shirts made up from a company specializing in T shirts for Fire personnel.
They had a complete section just for London, the authority got in touch with the company and threatened them with legal action over copyright, that’s right the authority thinks it has copyright over the words “ London “ “ Fire “ and the name of your station. Now the company has stopped producing T shirts for London although it continues to do so for most other brigades in the UK.
Well I am looking to find another company locally that will produce T Shirts for us, be proud of your job and where you work, they hate this sort of web sites, as they have no control, and yes it is like a dictatorship when you are not allowed to speak your mind without fear of reprisal.
Oh my god I am starting to rant now sorry to one and all. But I feel proud to be a firefighter and I am not prepared to let this job collapse around my because I could not be bothered to stand up and say “I love this job”
Sorry for the rant.
Ian Mills

Well I think something needs to be done, because I feel there are some things that are going to happen in the future that will change this job into a civvie run organisation. We need the militeristic style back. The marching at training school, wearing your cap when you go on st-by, all the little traditions that have fallen by the wayeside. And the T-shirts you were talking about, I had a load made up for the watch by the same company, and the other watches were asking for some, and I now know why I couldn't get any!
I thought the Union were able to help us in these sort of situations?!
(Not the T-Shirts though! )

Hi Ian,
I have spoken to someone about this and as far as I know (please don't sue me) the LFEPA has the copyright to only two things. One is the white LFB 'making london safer' sign and the cap badge (up above). everything thing else including London Fire Brigade IS NOT copyrighted at all.
No theres a conversation for the lawyers
