Hi everyone,

I have been a member for several months now, but I have been watching and reading from a distance as I was'nt too sure whether this was a site that was open to non LFB members, but now I am confident that it's going to be ok to post.

My name is Ian and I am currently a Watch Manager B or whatever they call us this week, serving at T&DC in Hertfordshire Fire And Rescue. I have been there for nearly 2 years working in the BA department for a year and now I am responsible for training the new recruits, sorry trainees (even the pc brigade have reached us).

Prior to T&DC I served on mainly 1 pump stations as both an LFF and Sub for around 8 years. I am also a W/M on a retained station.... it seemed like a good idea when I moved to the town and I have served there for the last 7 years.

I have over the last few years been considering a move to LFB but the timing and just missing out on the JOAC assessments (not my fault LFB were meant to contact me but forgot) have held me back.

I have many serving LFB friends, as I grew-up in London and in addition have worked many times with the crews from Enfield, Southgate, Mill Hill, etc and of course many times with the FRU crews from Edmonton on the motorways when I was stationed in Cheshunt just outside of the North London borders.

So that's my introduction for what its worth.

If it is ok I would like to contribute to further topics, but I would still say this, LFB still have a fantastic tradition that is still highly regarded on the outside and from what I have read from you guy's, don't let the suits and civvies get you down, things will, I am sure go full circle, they will be history, and we will be allowed to get on with one of the most respected and rewarding occupations.
