BWC's
One of the BWCs (BWC 1) was involved in a rollover accident at Wethersfield in Essex when a member of the Training Department floored it to fast around a corner! The appliance has been re-cabbed, and the bodywork is being beaten out with a hammer at Papworth prior to being put back together again. It hasn't been written off, and following the outcome of the SAI investigation, they should be entering service - watch this space, but hold off putting money on a "in service date" BCU The old BCU -
The big bus - has been transferred to Lincoinshire Fire and Rescue, and is based at Market Rasen Fire Station. Its having quite a bit of use, as it goes on all jobs of 5/6 pumps and above. I've no doubt it plods down to R.Wks for servicing as and when necessary due to the "complex" nature of the appliance (wiring and so forth) Don't forget it was in London for the best part of 11 years, so all the fitters at R.Wks are used to tinkering with it on a weekly basis. Any major repair jobs required are probably best done in-house at Ruislip, and it wouldn't surprise me if there's a whole section of racking with BCU bits and bobs still there! Biggin Hill The ex Tooting appliance, DPL1126 is now the permanent machine at E42. The machine has being modified to the "Lower Gantry" spec to enable it to fit in the station.
The Landie is now also permanently manned, where as in the past it was a "winter only" allocation at E42, as the area gets cut off when it snows! They have used a number of 4x4 vehicles in the past from the Brigade fleet - however, AWD 1 is the first permanently based 4x4 appliance at E42.
To my knowledge, there is no new DPLs due before christmas - AssetCo "pinched" seven chassis from the Mk2 Merc DPL building programme to build the new FRUs (such as FRU21), and they are now awaiting to obtain seven replacement chassis from Mercedes to build DPL1309-1315. When these are due, and where they are going to be allocated is still being decided; however I wouldn't be surprised if they just get slotted into the seven stations which didn't get there new DPL as intended - H34 being one such station.

Don't blame me, this is my mate's reply, he doesn't come on here as he'd have to reply and correct most things. He's the one that knows everything there is to know about the Brigade!
