FRU training modules at stations

We (as the FRU training team) are trying to put together station training modules simular to USAR, these would either be station or STC based stuff.

They would be between one and four days modules and I was wondering what people on here thought of the idea and what would they want to be kept up to date with. At the moment we have something like the following in the pipeline

Water rescue 1 day
Line two 1 day
Small gear 1 day
Winching & lifting 1 day
RTA 3-4 days

This is not set in stone and is just an idea banging round the office at the moment.

I for one would be interested in some form of structured training lead by trainers for my watch. After all is this not what trainers should be doing, rather than me read a book and cascade the training down to the watch?

As a non qualified FRU Watch Manager with a newly qualified FRU crew I have watched them discuss during training different ways of doing the same thing, this all steams from them being given different advice / information during training rather than based on operational experience. Training a whole watch together at the same time must be one of the best ways to carry out this sort of specialist training.

Apart from water rescue which we do not do at Wimbledon we would be happy for any of the other training mentioned.

Blaze whats all this common sense lark? As a personal thing water and line would be welcome but small gear, winching and lift and RTA no. However it leads to the point of skills payment for FRU crews.

hey Red, to be honest you don't need to do the small gear as long as people practise starting it when they do the monthly tests, that is down to the crew manager.

Water is being sorted by TAG and will be rolled out next April ish. RTA stuff is always good because we are a bit sad in the team and keep up with all the new techniques, we also get the feel of the crews and take good ideas back from stations so we can implement them over the brigade. We learn stuff from you guys too, we just to listen to each other.
