Hi all,

Am reposting this on behalf of a friend of a friend. Could be one for those who've never had a go at boxing before, and fancy a bit of fun...

Dear Friends

As some of you already know, my good friend Nathan and I are in the process of organising a charity boxing tournament to take place later this year and we are looking for twelve men or women with no fighting experience, who would be prepared to train for around 14 weeks to take part in a three-round amateur bout to raise money for a charity of their own choice. We already have a number of people who would like to box but about half the places are still available. We are looking for physically matched pairs who wish to box each other, or individuals who want to be paired with an appropriate opponent. Even if you have no desire to take part, please forward this email to anyone who you think could be interested; you might be surprised by who steps up. We are particularly looking for complete novices who have never done anything like this before.

The tournament will take place in London just before Christmas and will be a fun evening out for all. Profits from ticket sales will also go to charity.

Boxers will be provided with a basic training schedule and will be expected to do some training on their own or with a partner, but we will also be organising group-training sessions and at least three sparring sessions so that everyone has a chance to practise in the ring. These will take place in London and all participants will be invited, but anyone who is unable to attend the London sparring sessions must make arrangements with a local boxing gym. No one will be allowed to box in the tournament without some experience of sparring.

Lastly, we are also looking for a handful of swimsuit-clad "ring" girls and boys to parade the announcement cards in between rounds.

If you are even slightly interested in taking part, or you would just like to know more about what is involved, please email me by the end of August at the very latest.

And, yes, Nathan and I will both be fighting (though not each other).

Kind regards

Paul

Me and a few Battersea boys attended this event. Wes Morgan of H27 Red refereed, me and Vince Anderson of H27 Blue kept time and judged and Jamie Stennett of H27 blue was the on duty Paramedic.

A great night and a right good Christmas knees up. If Paul Thomas runs another event like this it's highly recommended.
