It seems the LFB, LFEPA and the FBU don't think I have actively personally developed myself enough to get the new payments.

It seems like it is much more important to sit on the back of a fire engine and coast along doing nothing than actually get off your ass, volunteer for courses and extra training and get promoted. Now before any of the older and more experienced FF's get up in arms and start shouting about what I just said I'll have to explain. I am not talking about the keen experienced ff's that help out and train the 'diamonds' and pass on their wealth of knowledge and are a asset to the watch and brigade. I am talking about the ff's that just come into work to get a nights sleep between 2nd jobs and don't want to do anything and we all know someone like that :(

Within 5 years of being in the brigade I had moved off a single pump station to a FRU station, became qualified in FRU, Line, Water rescue, boat & USAR. I have been promoted, done my SUMAC, EFAD and become a trainer.

The question is how the hell can they say I haven't Continuously Personally Developed myself? just because I haven't done 8 years, bit of a joke really

Right, now I have started to post on this site there is no stopping me!
CPD payment is an insult to all those firefighters that have been receiving 15 year money.
It was gained after 15 years service (surprise surprise) no need to apply or prove that you were worthy or that you had done something special to deserve it. 15 years of working shifts missing loved ones birthdays etc was enough I thought.
The payment is currently less than the old 15 year money and as recent court cases have proved its ok to pay people more money for doing the same job longer than those with less time. (I always thought such payments were called incentives)
I know its all part of the new agreement etc etc but the procedure for implementing this was left to every brigade to sort out for it self, surely those already in receipt of 15 year money should not have any need to apply for CPD at all, Only those wanting it before 15 years would need to show they have done something special to deserve it.
I am sure it will prove to be a contentious issue but bring it on.
Oh by the way I know this year we are getting it without applying as a good will measure but that we will have to apply for it from next year onwards providing we have been good boys and girls and not had to much sickness, but I do not intent to apply for it as a matter of principle.
Just my thoughts feel free to comment

The problem is they don't want us in the brigade for 15 years, they want us to be like Tesco ltd, and they want a job and not a career.

I Have spoken to the London union rep yesterday and he said unless you meet the 8 year point you are f**ked  We have no rights of appeal and we can't even go and take it to court because the union has agreed to it.

So when I leave here it will be to be in charge of a ladder and have a CM on the back who gets more pay then me, what a joke.

Dont forget the drivers and their payments, seems everyone is taking home more money than the OIC, still at least I get to sit in front of a computer all day and night working away completing endless returns blah blah
