Now I'm sure someone will know the answer.
If there is a BA set for the OIC on every appliance, then why do WM not do a BA refresher?

Why do Senior management not do refreshers now? They are deemed to be fully operational and the brigade has a duty of care.

Therefore could FFs & CMs refuse to go into a job with any WM and above following a DRA(I know no one can remeber the last time a WM and above did this   ) ?

Fair point, a more important point is if you are actualy covered to wear the BA if you haven't done a refresher course

I like the fact that I can't wear a 'goatee' because I' still classed as operational but can't get a BA refresher for love nor money

Confused? you will be

Going slightly off topic in terms of refreshers but in regards to the Goatee I spoke to Draeger about 18 months ago and the lad's I spoke to from there don't knoe where the beard rule has come from. As far as they knew Draeger have never said anything about not being able to wear with a beard.

Similarly the ruling about not being allowed to wear shorts under fire kit is an old rule from the days of yellow leggings that never got updated. Maybe it has in London now tho, its not something I ever felt the need to check

Rob, you can't have a goatee, but you could grow a big Rescue Tash. Very popular across the pond! i think you should do it!

Mac,

I know of guys that have done a seal test with a goatee and passed, it is something to do with London rules and insurance. Don't know how that works in the civilian market where there can't be a no beard rule if you wear BA sets.

Cyclops they obviously have your card marked! Weird about EDBA yearly wear as they seem to have that programmed for all ranks up to WM but not SDBA

I have tried for over a year now to get a B.A refresher for myself, its on one of the other topic threads, well so far no refresher, the last person I spoke to was really surprised that a WM would want a B.A. refresher, in her words" I'll put you down on the list but do not hold your breath"" there's me thinking that without a B.A. refresher thats exactly what I might have to do!! :D
